Witten is a German city in the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia, located in the central part of the Ruhr, between the cities of Bochum and Dortmund. It underwent a great transformation in the wake of the Industrial Revolution, which brought prosperity to the city and an economic boom that lasted until the middle of the 20th century.
