Very close to Frankfurt you can find Bad Homburg, the capital of the Upper Taunus district, in the federal state of Hesse. Its foundation dates back to the 12th century and is famous for its mineral waters for medical use, its saunas, spas and casino, which was founded by the same owners as the MonteCarlo casino. Bad Homburg is an economically prosperous city, and is the place of residence for many workers, entrepreneurs and high profile executives. It is also very famous for the Saalburg castle, an ancient Roman castle which is now a museum.
